St. George and the Theban Legion Church in Garagos
This church is located in Garagos, Qus, Qena Governorate, on the eastern side of the Nile, about 35 km south of Qena and 25 km north of Luxor.
Church history:
It was founded in 1948 by the Coptic Christ Soldiers Association in Naqada, during the era of the Thrice-Blessed, H.E. Bishop Kyrillos, Metropolitan of Qena and was expanded by the Thrice Blessed, H.G. Bishop Makarios, Bishop of Qena. The first mass was celebrated by the late hegumen Bolos El-Kommos Ayoub on March 10th, 1949 – Baramhat 1st, 1665. The church was fully renovated by H.G. Bishop Biemen.

Bishop Karas, General Bishop of Mahalla al-Kubra), Father Paul Attia, Father Bishoy Basit who is currently in charge of the church.
A spiritual revival is held in the church every year from 11/30 to 3/12 to commemorate the arrival of the relics of St. Verena and St. Maurice to the Church. During the revival, the relics are anointed.
